Entrepreneur Investor Green Card
An EB-5 is a permanent U.S. green card based upon investment and creating American employment. If you are a foreign national able to invest $500,000 in a business that creates ten American jobs then you would be eligible to obtain a green card. There are ten thousand available immigrant visas per year to qualified individuals seeking permanent resident status on the basis of their engagement in a new commercial enterprise.
Eligibility
Eligible aliens are those who have invested, or are actively in the process of investing, the required amount of capital into a new commercial enterprise that they have established. They must also demonstrate that this investment will benefit the United States economy and create the requisite number of full-time jobs for qualified persons within the United States.
In order to seek status as an immigrant investor you must file an immigrant petition with the United State Citizenship and Immigration Service. You must clearly demonstrate that the investment meets all the requirements, such as:
- Establishing a new commercial enterprise;
- Investing the requisite capital amount;
- Proving the investment comes from a lawful source of funds;
- Creating the requisite number of jobs;
- Demonstrating that the investors actively participate in the business; and where applicable
- Creating employment within a target employment area
